Track & Field Locked In for War Eagle Invitational

Troy, Ala. – Troy track & field will remain in-state this weekend when it travels to Auburn for the War Eagle Invitational held at Hutsell-Rosen Track from April 19-20.Â

The meet is set to begin on Friday at 2 p.m. with the men's hammer throw. The women's pole vault at 11:30 a.m. will commence day two of action with the women's 4x100m relay being the first running event on Saturday at noon.Â

JARED HAYES SUN BELT HONOR
Sophomore Jared Hayes was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday.Â
Â
Hayes earned the honors after winning the 200m race at the Joe Walker Invitational in a season best time of 20.89. His race-winning time is currently the fastest 200m men's time in the Sun Belt Conference, 36th-fastest in the NCAA Division I-East rankings and sits 46th in all of NCAA Division I.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The Trojans competed at the Joe Walker Invitational last weekend hosted by Ole Miss at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex. The meet was cut short due to inclement weather Troy still put on a show.Â

In the 3000m steeplechase, freshman Caroline Sall ran into third all-time at Troy with a time of 11:48.74. Senior Niata Alexander earned second place out of 32 runners in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 23.85 seconds.Â

Sophomore Macki Walsh notched a personal best time in the 1500m race, finishing in 4:46.91 good for 16th place. In the same race for the men, senior Brennan Garriques finished in a personal best time of 3:59.85.

In the discus, junior Jess Jacobsen (44.62 meters) and sophomore Alec Sheehan (43.21 meters) finished in third and fifth, respectively out of 22 throwers. Freshman Brittany Trawick landed in third place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.96 meters.
