Live Scoring
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Troy fought through a rough front nine before settling down on day two of the Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship at the LPGA International Hills Course on Tuesday. The Trojans are in third place – just three shots back of the lead – heading into the final round.
The third-place standing marks the 18th straight round at the Sun Belt Championship that the Trojans have been in the top three. South Alabama leads the field at 9-over followed by Texas State at 10-over and Troy at 12-over.
"We didn't play our best golf by any means today," head coach Randy Keck said. "We feel very fortunate that despite the way we played we still have a chance to win. We stubbed our toe early, but we knew that we could turn it around on the back nine, and it was good to see us battle a little at the end."
Troy was 10-over on the day at the turn and had slipped all the way to fifth place at one point during the second round. The Trojans responded on the back nine with eight total birdies and a collective 2-under par.
Sarah Harrison carded six birdies on the day but a pair of double-bogeys – on No. 1 and No. 13 – cost her the chance at a breakthrough round. None the less, Harrison finished the day even par to move into a tie for third place overall and just two shots back of the individual lead.
Lindsey Harrison, who entered the day tied for the lead, shot 4-over on the day to slip into a tie for eighth. She made the turn at 4-over but rebounded to shoot even on the back with a pair of birdies. She came within six inches of an eagle on No. 18 after drilling the flag stick with her approach shot.
The Trojans' second-half charge was led by Judith Castro who made the turn at 5-over and then proceeded to birdie three of her first four holes on the back nine to finish the round at 2-over and tied for 21st place overall.
Bianca Lohbauer also turned her round around on the back nine with an even-par 36 after shooting 3-over on the front nine. She sits tied for 13th place overall and just two shots back of a top 10 finish. Nicole Lorup settled her day at 4-over and is tied for 30thplace heading into Wednesday's final 18 holes.
Troy will be in the lead grouping for the final round which will also feature South Alabama and Texas State. The first threesome will hit the course beginning at 7:45 a.m.
