Trojan Raid: Mountaineers Overrun by Offensive Onslaught

TROY, Alabama – Troy ran roughshod over Appalachian State in a 95-66 victory on Thursday in Trojan Arena.
Five Trojans scored in double figures and the team hit 11 three-pointers as App State trailed the entire game. Troy led by as many as 33 and was led by Amber Rivers, who scored 15 of her game-high 19 points in the first half.
The Trojans (21-7, 12-5 SBC) have now won six straight in the all-time series with the Mountaineers, while Rivers has averaged 17.8 points in the last four meetings.
Appalachian State struggled from the field early making just 6-of-25 shots in the first period. The Mountaineers were 1-for-10 from three-point range in the first half and finished 4-of-18 from range. Pre Stanley led App State with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Bayley Plummer finished with a game-high 15 rebounds, but the Trojans won the battle on the boards, 51-49.
Stanley and the Mountaineers did find success near the basket in the first half with 26 points in the paint, but Troy's halftime adjustments proved valuable as App State scored just 10 in the paint over the final 20 minutes.
Six Trojans hit three-pointers in the game led by Jasmine Robinson, who finished 3-for-7 from range and tallied 13 points and seven assists. Jasmine LeBlanc turned in another quality performance with 17 points and six rebounds, she has scored 17 in three of the last four games.
Japonica James added 14 points and eight boards, while Kayla Robinson chipped in with 12.
Troy shot 42.4 percent (36-85) from the field and were 12-of-13 from the free throw line. Appalachian State converted at a 36.6 percent (26-71) clip from the field.
