TROY, Ala. – The Troy Men's Tennis faced Georgia State in the Sun Belt dual match and fell short, 1-4. The Trojans came close to clinch the doubles point in the beginning but did not convert that into their advantage before heading into the singles play.
The duo of Pelayo Antuna and Jiaqi Duan came short in doubles as they were defeated by MacFarlane and Hussey, 6-4. At the No.2 spot, Oskar Michalek and Andy Romero defeated Duarte and Grinvalds, 6-2. Unfortunately, the last deciding point in the doubles play was not in the favor of the Trojans. Christopher Tasker and Jorge Poyatos fell against Georgia State duo, 6-4.
Oskar Michalek was swapped with Pelayo Antuna for the No.1 seed, but he was defeated by Robert Grinvalds, 6-4, 6-2. Pelayo Antuna was leading in the tie-breaker in the first set against Vazha Shubladze, who had to retire due to a knee injury. At the No.4 spot, Christopher Tasker was close to clinch the second point for the team, but the match was unfinished due to four collected points from Georgia State side.
The Troy Men's Tennis will be back in the Sun Belt action on Mar.31 at home against Georgia Southern. The game will mark the senior day for two Trojans. The duo of seniors Jiaqi Duan and Shaaz Peerani left their mark in the tennis program. The tip-off for the game is set to 10 a.m at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
