Men’s Tennis Prepares for Sun Belt Weekend
3/29/2019 10:05:00 AM | Tennis (M)
TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team will face two Sun Belt opponents from the state of Georgia during the weekend. The dual match against Georgia State is scheduled on March, 30 at 10 a.m., while the second match against Georgia Southern will be played on the next day at 10 a.m.
The Trojans (15-2, 1-1) are currently standing in the top three of the Sun Belt Conference sharing the spot with Louisiana, Coastal Carolina and UTA. Georgia State (10-8, 2-0) won both of their conference matches, while Georgia Southern (12-7, 1-1) were short against Louisiana and UT Arlington. The Trojans played their first Sun Belt weekend last week and went 1-1 after losing to Coastal Carolina and beating Appalachian State on the following day.
The performance in the doubles play hurt the Trojans against Coastal Carolina, but they were able to improve the team chemistry against Appalachian State when they clinched the doubles point after confident wins at the top spots. Currently, the Trojans hold a .600 winning percentage in doubles after two dual matches, while Georgia Southern was not able to win a doubles match in the Sun Belt conference. Georgia State has more impressive numbers with having .833 winning percentage. Therefore, having a good start in doubles will mean a lot for the team to convert that advantage into singles play.
The first serve is set to 10 a.m at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. For more information on Troy men's tennis, follow along on Twitter @TroyTrojansMT or Instagram at @TroyTrojansMT.
