Troy Outdoor Opened Season at Strawberry Relays

RESULTS
Hammond, La. – Troy began its outdoor track and field season on Saturday when it competed at the Strawberry Relays hosted by Southeastern Louisiana.
Troy sent six men throwers to land marks in the discus, hammer throw and shot put. Two Trojans set their personal record in addition to four top-three finishes.
DISCUS
Junior Jess Jacobsen led the Trojans with a second-place finish with a 45.76m mark. Sophomore Jordan Poole followed behind Jacobsen in third place after notching a mark of 45.13 meters. Rounding out the top three Troy finishers was sophomore Alec Sheehan who tossed a personal best 44.50m, giving him fourth out of 14 competitors.
HAMMER
Poole secured another top-three finish in the meet, as he landed in third out of 12 throwers after launching a 49.12m mark which bested his previous personal record by more than five meters. Junior Austin Snyder and freshmen James Edge and Nash Rutledge finished seventh through ninth, respectively with marks of 45.33m, 41.59m and 40.06m.
SHOT PUT
Snyder paced Troy in third place with a distance of 14.63 meters. Jacobsen (fourth) and Rutledge (sixth) rounded out the Trojan lineup in the shot put with respective distances of 14.54m and 13.87m.
UP NEXT
Troy will have next weekend off before preparing for its sole home meet of the season from March 15-16 when it hosts the Doc Anderson Invitational.
