Troy Falls to No. 8 LSU

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – LSU scored 11 runs off of nine hits to power past Troy in a midweek nonconference matchup Wednesday night at Tiger Park.
LSU (21-6) struck first in the bottom of the first inning scoring two runs off of a double by Amanda Sanchez and a single by Shemiah Sanchez.
The Tigers offense kept rolling in the bottom of the second inning. Hits by Savannah Stewart and Elyse Thornhill following four walks and a hit by pitch scored six runs to solidify LSU's victory.
LSU's scoring was capped off in the bottom of the third inning with three runs scored off of four hits including doubles by Amanda Sanchez and Amanda Doyle.
Troy (18-9) threatened with runners on in the first three innings of play but were not able to capitalize with Troy's only hit coming from Stephanie Snyder in the first inning.
Maribeth Gorsuch (6-0) picked up the win for the Tigers after only allowing one hit and sitting down five batters.
Annie Willis (5-5) suffered the loss for the Trojans after giving up two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning. Willis returned to the circle after being relieved by Peyton Glover in the second inning and did not give up a hit to close out the game.
Troy looks to bounce back on Friday night at 6 p.m against No. 11 Louisiana at Lamson Park.
