Duan Leads Troy Against Gardner-Webb

TROY, Alabama - The Troy men's tennis improved its winning record to 5-0 after defeating Gardner-Webb on Saturday afternoon, 4-2. Senior Jiaqi Duan made an impressive comeback in the third set to secure the win for the team.
The Trojans were able to collect the doubles point as the wins came from No.2 and No.3 spot. Jiaqi Duan and Pelayo Antuna outplayed the duo from Gardner-Webb, 7-5. Freshman Manuel Bernard and Junior Oskar Michalek defeated Ross Gilbert and Sebastian Harris, 6-3.
Three wins at the bottom seeds allowed the team to secure the win. Jiaqi Duan and Christopher Tasker went through three-set thrillers to claim the victory, while Antonio Selma got a comfortable win at No.6 spot, 6-3, 6-3. The three-set clash between No.2 seed Pelayo Antuna and Millen Hurrion was stopped at the equal score due to deciding point claimed by Duan at No.4 spot.
The Trojans will continue with the series of dual matches on Sunday, Feb.10 to play South Carolina State University. The first serve is set for 1 p.m.
