Troy Routs Texas State on the Road

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Troy's Lone Star State woes came to an end as the Trojans dominated Texas State, 82-63, in Strahan Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans (20-6, 11-4 SBC) haven't won in San Marcos since March 4, 2016, but used the three-point shot to lead for all but 4:26 of the contest.
All of Harriet Winchester's game-high 18 points came from beyond the arc on six made 3-pointers, tying her career high. Jasmine LeBlanc scored 17 to go along with six rebounds. Troy knocked down nine 3-pointers in the first half and 13 in the game to improve to 35-3 under Chanda Rigby when making double-digit treys.
Texas State (13-15, 8-8) cut the deficit to four with 3:29 left in the half, but the Trojans stepped up defensively and held the Bobcats without a field goal for the remainder of the half.
Troy built its lead to 12 points, 51-39, in the third quarter, but a TXST run closed the gap to six before Tyra Johnson nailed one of her three 3-pointers just before the buzzer. Johnson finished with 11 points. The Trojans led by as many as 21 points with 1:23 left in the game.
The win marked the 20thfor the Trojans, the seventh 20-win season in program history and the fourth under Rigby. It is also the second-quickest to 20 wins in program history.

• Troy has now eclipsed the 80-point plateau 105 times in 215 games under Chanda Rigby. The Trojans are 84-21 in those games.
• Winchester becomes the second Trojan to make six 3-pointers in a game this season. Johnson has made six twice this season.
• The Trojans shot 45.3 percent (29-64) from the field, 50 percent (13-26) from three-point range, and 84.6 percent (11-13) from the free throw line.
