TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Connor Futrell fired his team-leading fourth round under par to lead Troy following the opening two rounds of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club. The Trojans are in 12thplace following Saturday's play and Futrell is tied for 27thoverall.
Futrell carded four birdies over his first 11 holes, all on the front nine, en route to a 3-under 69 in Saturday's opening round. He had just one bogey in the round as he shot in the 60s for the second time this season. Futrell added three more birdies in the second round and shot 4-over on his second trip through the course.
Dean Martin is three shots behind Futrell in a tie for 48thplace at 4-over following two rounds. Martin carded one birdie in the opening round as he shot 1-over before dropping in a pair of birdies in a 3-over-75 second round.
Jacksonville carries a 5-shot lead over No. 41 West Virginia and No. 29 Louisville heading into Sunday's final round while No. 5 Wake Forest is six shots back in fourth.
Will McFadden also shot a 1-over 73 in the opening round but fell back with an 8-over 80 in the afternoon session to finish the day tied for 59thplace. The Trojan freshman tied Futrell with six birdies on the day. Brent Hamm is a shot back of McFadden in a tie for 62ndplace following rounds of 75 and 79 while Bryson Bianco is tied for 71stplace after rounds of 77 and 81.
Troy will open Sunday's final round on No. 10 beginning at 7:35 a.m. (CT) along with Nicholls State and Morehead State.
