Trojans Conclude Road Trip at Alabama A&M

TROY, Ala. -- The Troy Trojans close out a six-game in 15-day stretch Monday evening at Alabama A&M. Tip-off from T.M. Elmore Gym is set for 7 p.m.

The game will be the final road matchup for the Trojans until Dec. 11, as Troy will next open a mini two-game home stand (Shorter, North Alabama) beginning on Nov. 30.

LAST TIME OUT- (Troy, 1-5)
The Trojans look to record the program first road win of the season Monday night. Troy is currently 0-3 on the road after Saturday's 72-60 setback at Samford. In that game, the Trojans got off to a slow start, allowing Samford to race out to a 15-0 start. Following that point, the Trojans outscored the Bulldogs 60-57. After turning the ball over 12 times in the first half, Troy committed just four turnovers in the second half. Junior Darian Adams scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and recorded six assists, while Ty Gordon and Charles Norman each scored 13. Troy cut a 27-point Samford lead to just 14 with 4:58 remaining, but Samford held Troy to just two points over the next three minutes to put the game away. The Bulldogs hit seven first half 3-pointers, outscoring Troy 43-22 in the first half. Troy won the final 20 minutes, outscoring Samford 38-29.

LAST TIME OUT- (Alabama A&M, 0-5)
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs enter Monday's matchup searching for their first victory of the season. After beginning the season with five consecutive road games, Monday night will serve as A&M's home opener. The Bulldogs opened the season with a tough 106-66 setback at Tennessee State, before dropping a 74-52 decision at UAB. Alabama A&M next played a pair of games at Cincinnati and Miami University (OH), falling 85-53 and 79-63 respectively. The Bulldogs concluded the tough five-game road trip at Clemson, falling 87-51 to the ACC foe. So far this season Cam Alford is leading the way for Alabama A&M, averaging 11.8 points-per-game and five rebounds.

• The Trojans have suffered three of five losses by a combined 11 points. The Trojans are 0-3 this season in games decided by two possessions or fewer.
• The Trojans will close out a six-game in 15 day stretch against Alabama A&M, Monday. Following a few days off for Thanksgiving the Trojans return to action next Saturday hosting Shorter (2 PM).
• The Trojans forced 26 Samford turnovers Saturday (D-1 program record). The previous record was 23 against Ft. Valley State (Nov. 6, 2018). The overall program record is 44 against DeVry University (Jan. 12, 1992).
• The Trojans played lockdown defense in the first half of Wednesday, hold the
Texas A&M Aggies to just five field goals, 17 points and 19.2 percent shooting. The five field goals allowed are the lowest against a D-1 opponent since Troy held South Alabama to just five field goals on Feb. 16, 2016. The 17 points allowed are the fewest in a first half since that same game against South Alabama. It was the eighth time since 2015-16 that Troy held an opponent below 25 percent shooting in a half.
• The Trojans are assisting on nearly 60 percent of all made field goals. The Trojans have made 126 field goals this season and have dished out 75 helpers.

Troy and Alabama A&M: The Trojans lead the all-time series 1-0. The last time the two teams played was Dec. 10, 2016 an 88-59 Troy victory. In that game, three Trojans scored in double-figures, including Jordan Varnado who scored 27.

Junior Ty Gordon scored 13 points on Saturday. The Mississippi native also dished out a pair of assists, and forced three steals. He drew four fouls and was 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Â He was the only Trojan who recorded a positive plus-minus (+5) for the game.
