TROY, Ala. – The 2020 Troy softball schedule was released by head coach Beth Mullins on Friday. The schedule features 26 home games including four home conference series and a midweek matchup with in-state rival Auburn.
The midweek matchup with in-state foe Auburn marks one of Troy's four Power Five conference matchups. The Trojans will also hit the road and square off against Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia Tech.
"I think we have put together a really competitive preseason schedule that will set us up for the always challenging Sun Belt schedule," Mullins said. "We are really excited about our two home tournaments, where we bring in some really good programs. I think it's going to be a treat for the fans and will showcase a lot of great games."
Troy kicks off the season playing host to Lipscomb, College of Charleston, Western Kentucky and North Florida in the Trojan Classic (Feb. 7-9).
Following a road midweek tilt against Samford (Feb. 12), the Trojans return home to host the Troy Invitational (Feb. 14-16) before going on the road for the D9 Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla., (Feb. 21-23) and the Black and Garnet Challenge in Columbia, S.C. (Feb. 29- March 1).
The Trojans open up conference play the following weekend with a series at UT-Arlington (March 6-8). After the seven-game road stretch, Troy returns home during Troy University's spring break to host Florida A&M (March 11) and Georgia Southern (March 13-15).
On the following Wednesday, Troy embarks on another difficult travel slate as the Trojans trek to Rhoads Stadium to take on Alabama (March 18) before traveling to ULM (March 20-22) and Georgia Tech (March 25).
Troy closes out the month of March with a home conference series against Coastal Carolina (March 27-29) and opens the month of April with a Sun Belt series at Georgia State (April 3-5).
The Trojans' next four games will be back at the Troy Softball Complex with the defending conference champions, Louisiana (April 9-11), and rival South Alabama (April 14) coming to Troy.
The last two road series for Troy includes games against Appalachian State (April 17-19) and rival South Alabama (May 1-2). In between the two road series, Troy will host a midweek contest with Auburn (April 22) and a conference series with Texas State (April 24-26).
The Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be hosted by Georgia State in Atlanta May 6-9.
