Notes: Women's Basketball Hosts Jacksonville State on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team is back at home this Saturday as they host in-state rival Jacksonville State. Tip-off between the Trojans and Gamecocks is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Trojan Arena.

Troy begins a stretch of three games in nine days that starts on Saturday against Jacksonville State before traveling to No. 10/8 Mississippi State and Duke. Troy enters Saturday's contest coming off a comeback victory over Samford that saw the Trojans end the game on a 19-4 run over the final 5:51 of the contest.
Jacksonville State Gamecocks (2-1)

Jacksonville State opened their season at Vanderbilt, falling 66-88 before getting two victories over Florida A&M (72-67) and Lipscomb (65-63) at home. The Gamecocks have been led this season by Taylor Hawks and Destiney Elliott who are each averaging over 12 points per game. Despite Hawks and Elliott's efforts and the winning record, Jacksonville State has a scoring margin of minus five so far this season.
Trojan Storylines
• Troy is 2-0 entering the game against Jacksonville State. This is just the third time in coach Rigby's career that Troy has started a season 2-0. The 2019-20 Trojans look to become the first squad under Rigby, and first since 2005-06, to start the season 3-0. Only two teams in program history have started 3-0, 2005-06 and in 1991-92
• Japonica James and Kayla Robinson have been responsible for 43 percent of the teams scoring this season. The two have combined to score 76 points in two games
• Kayla continues to race up the career scoring list. She now has scored 929 points in her career and is just 71 points shy of 1,000 in her career
• After just two weeks on competition, Troy already leads the nation in total rebounds (125) and offensive rebounds (59). They also lead the country in made free throws with 71 on the year
• In the first-quarter of games this season Troy is being outscored 32-28 but then outscoring their opponents 49-26 in the second-quarter

Jasmine LeBlanc has done a little bit of everything for Troy this season. In back-to-back she has scored 11-points, joining only Japonica James to score in double-digits twice this season. LeBlanc is also averaging 7.5 rebounds per game, tied with James for the team lead. She has also collected three steals, dished out three assists.
