Troy Set to Close Regular Season on the Road

TROY, Ala. – Troy hits the road for its final two regular season matches against Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State Friday and Sunday. The Trojans are coming off a tough loss against in-state rival South Alabama but have yet to lose back-to-back matches this season.
The Matchup: Troy (21-6, 10-4 Sun Belt) vs. Coastal Carolina (21-5, 11-3 Sun Belt)

Trojan Storylines
The Chanticleers sit atop the Sun Belt East Division and boast one of the hardest hitters in the league in Anett Nemeth. Nemeth registered 33 kills against Troy when the two teams met earlier this season which is the most in a single match by a Sun Belt player this season. As a team, Coastal Carolina is hitting a league-best .279 on the year.

Know Your Opponent – Appalachian State
The App State offense is led by Kara Spicer who is hitting an impressive .322 on the year, the fourth-best mark in the conference. The Trojans will have to be on their toes when Emma Reilly is at the service line. The junior is second in the league with 51 total aces this season. As a team, the Mountaineers are averaging 13.13 kills per set, just behind Troy's league-best 13.82 kills per set.

Trojan Storylines
- The Trojans can claim an East Division title and a No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a 2-0 weekend and an 0-2 weekend from South Alabama. Coastal Carolina and South Alabama are currently tied atop the division with an 11-3 conference record while Troy has a 10-4 conference record.
- Troy's 21 wins this season are the most in the Lauer era and are tied for the most by a Trojan team this century (2012, 21-12). This marks just the sixth 20-win season in program history.
- Troy is one win away from breaking the program record for most conference wins in a season (2012, 10 wins). The Trojans are also chasing their 22nd win of the year which would be the most since 1995 (27-11).
- Both Caitlin Cooper (.301) and Julia Brooks (.300) are in the top-10 in hitting percentage among league players, ranking seventh and eighth, respectively. Brooks' hitting percentage is the highest among Sun Belt freshman.
- Amara Anderson continues to have an All-American worthy season. She ranks eighth nationally in total assists (1,099) and is 11th in the country in assists per set (11.45).
