TROY, Ala. – Troy hits the road to Georgia for its second weekend of league action with matchups against Georgia Southern Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Georgia State Saturday at 6 p.m. The Trojans are looking to start 4-0 in conference play for the first time since 2002.
Troy won its previous matchup against each of the schools last season and is riding a conference-best seven match win streak entering the weekend.
"We're trying to make sure we keep things in perspective and stay true to who we are," head coach Josh Lauer said. "It's a big weekend against a couple divisional opponents. [Georgia Southern and Georgia State] will be playing with their backs up against the wall with great effort."

Amara Anderson once again garnered Sun Belt Setter of the Week Honors after Troy's 2-0 start to conference play. The Alpharetta, Ga., native has received the weekly honor for the second week in a row and four of the last five weeks. Anderson continues to show she's one of the best setters in the nation, ranking sixth nationally in assists per set this season (11.44).
Cheyenne Hayes has put together an impressive start to her junior campaign with 4.52 kills per set, the 17th best mark in the nation. Hayes also leads the Sun Belt in points per set with 4.92.
Lacey Jeffcoat has quietly made her impact on the Trojan volleyball team. The sophomore ranks 17th in the country and third in the league in aces per set with 0.56. But it's what doesn't show up on the stat sheet that makes Jeffcoat so valuable.
"Lacey does all the dirty work for our team," Lauer said. "Everybody judges the libero position by how many digs you're racking up, but no one keeps track of how many cover balls Lacey hits or how many rallies she keeps alive by protecting our hitters. No one tracks the quality of her out-of-system sets when Amara digs the ball."
"We're not built for her to go out and get 30 digs in a match. If she's getting 30 digs, our offense is probably not working. She's the ultimate team player. She just wants to win."

Georgia Southern enters Friday's match on a three-match losing streak but own the overall series against Troy 10-3. The Eagles are led offensively by Sydney Stroud who has recorded 111 kills (2.85 K/S) on the year. Georgia Southern allows the second-most opponent blocks per set in the conference so look for the Trojans to continue their physical play at the net.

Georgia State enters Saturday's match on a four-match losing streak but took conference stalwart Coastal Carolina to four sets last weekend. The Panthers lead the overall series against Troy 17-14. The Trojans will have to be on their toes when Dzemila Hadzic is at the service line. The junior has 17 service aces this season and ranks 10th in the Sun Belt in aces per set with 0.33.
