Nicole Lorup Named Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a record-breaking week, Troy sophomore Nicole Lorup has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week by the league office Thursday.
Lorup set the Troy school record for lowest round and lowest 54-hole score during her championship run at the Palmetto Intercollegiate earlier this week. She shot a 7-under 65 in the second round of the event and finished with a tournament record 9-under par as she picked up Troy's first individual victory since the 2015-16 season.
She tied for second in the field with 14 birdies over the 54 holes, and Lorup led the field playing the par 4s to the tune of 5-under for the tournament.
Lorup opened the week with a fifth-place finish in Troy's team win at the Chris Banister Golf Classic. She shot 6-over on the difficult RTJ Silver Lakes Golf Course, including a 1-under 71 in the opening round of the event.
Troy continues its fall schedule with a trip to the McCabe Golf Course on Oct. 28-29 for the TSU Town and Country hosted by Tennessee State.
