Troy Indoor Wraps Up Strong Showing at Emory Invite

Final Results
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Six individuals brought home wins in their respective events as Troy competed in the Emory CrossPlex Invitational Sunday. Gemma Finch, Gabrielle Henderson, Alexis Garrett, Genesis Jones, Jess Jacobsen and the women's 4x400m relay team all finished atop their events.

Finch set the school record in the women's 800m with a time of 2:12.47 to highlight all performances. Henderson posted the best time in the prelims and semis before winning it in the finals, while Garrett had the top 60m hurdles run in the semis and claimed the top spot in the finals.

The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Precious Ogba, Tiarra Bailey, Gemma Finch and Madison Kennedy crossed the line in first place with a time of 3:54.36. Ogba finished second in both the 200m and 400m dashes, behind only outdoor teammate Niata Alexander – who competed unattached – in both.

On the field side, newcomer Genesis Jones finished in a tie for first in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters. Jaevyn Wortham had the second-best weight throw of all competitors with a 15.96-meter toss.

Jess Jacobsen was the lone men's team student-athlete to win an event on Sunday. Jacobsen beat out his cohort Austin Snyder by 0.20 meters to claim the victory in the shot put. Caleb Brown and Jordan Poole finished second and third in the weight throw, respectively, and Titus Sizemore came in third in the high jump.

On the track, Julian Martin-Rogers led the way for the men, as he was the runner-up in the 60m hurdles with an 8.35-second run. Sophomore duo Jared Hayes (60m) and Amir Harris (400m) both finished third in their events.

Troy will return to the Birmingham CrossPlex once again next Sunday, as it is set to compete in the KMS Invitational.
