Troy Travels to Face Georgia Southern

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team put its seven-game winning streak on the line as it travels to take on Georgia Southern on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (CT).

The Trojans (13-2, 4-0 SBC) are in sole possession of the lead in the Sun Belt Conference standings and tied for the best start in program history. Troy enters the series with Georgia Southern having won the last 12 meetings including a 41-point victory in Trojans Arena last season, the largest margin of victory against a Sun Belt opponent in program history.

Amber Rivers paces the Trojans averaging 12.3 points and is coming off a 22-point performance against Arkansas State on Saturday. Sky'Lynn Holmes is fifth in the league with 8.8 rebounds per contest, a mark that stand second in Troy's DI history books.

Georgia Southern (5-10, 0-4) has dropped five straight and is third to last in the league averaging 59.7 points per game.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Louisiana women's basketball held off Georgia Southern for a 59-48 Sun Belt Conference victory last Saturday.

The Ragin' Cajuns improved to 4-11 overall and 2-2 in the Sun Belt with the win, while Georgia Southern fell to 5-10 overall and 0-4 in the league with the loss.

A high-scoring first quarter had the Eagles up by two, 18-16, but Louisiana held Georgia Southern to just 10 points in the second quarter, building an 34-28 advantage at the break. The Eagles were within four points, 46-42, midway through the fourth quarter but the Ragin' Cajuns hit 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to clinch the victory.

Alexis Brown led the Eagles with 12 points - 10 in the first half - while Tatum Barber scored all 11 of her points before the break.

NOTEWORTHY
• Troy is looking to start 5-0 in Sun Belt Conference play for the second time under Chanda Rigby. The Trojans opened leagues play 5-0 in 2016-17.

• Troy stayed put at No. 23 in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Poll. The Trojans also received four votes in this week's USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll.

• The Trojans shot 71 percent (12-17) from the field in the fourth quarter against Arkansas State on Saturday. On average, Troy is outscoring SBC opponents 27.0-17.8 over final10 minutes this season.
