Foreign Tour 2018: Los Suenos
8/7/2018 9:26:00 PM | Basketball (M)
GARABITO, Costa Rica – Over the last two days, the Troy men's basketball program saw large crocodiles, went zip lining and stayed at a resort to finish the Foreign Tour.
Â
On Monday while driving to the Ocean & Golf Resort, the team stopped at Crocodile Bridge to see some of the largest crocodiles in the wild. The team finished Monday at the resort by playing some football, pool volleyball, ping pong and relaxing on the beach.
Â
"It was a great experience, the crocodiles were very big," freshman Devante Foster said. "You don't see crocodiles in the states that much, so seeing them was really cool. Playing football and volleyball was a great team building experience. Very competitive, but it was all fun."
Â
Today marked the last full day in Costa Rica and the team went on a zip line tour at Vista Los Suenos. The zip line tour is 80 acres with 12 zips and the longest one being over a half of a mile. On one of the zips, each player was able to choose whether to go backwards or upside down.Â
Â
"The zip lining was a lot of fun, I went backwards on a couple of lines," freshman KJ Simon said. "At first it was a little scary because the trailer to the top messed up, but it was a great bonding experience for everybody."

QUOTING COACH CUNNINGHAM
Thoughts of last two days…
"I was impressed with the itinerary that Basketball Travelers set up for us," head coach Phil Cunningham said. "After everything our guys did in terms of practicing for 10 days and playing three games in two days, I thought the reward at the end was really good. We were able to see different parts of the country, spend time at a beautiful resort and do somethings with nature as well."
Â
Thoughts of the overall trip…
"We have been pleased with how everything has gone on this trip with no distractions. The basketball was good, especially great competition with Laurentian and the other game was a great game to get young guys some playing time which is really important to us on this trip. As expected, I thought our team chemistry improved on this trip. Now we have to carry all the positives that are gained from this opportunity back to the states and hopefully there are a lot of positives that carry over."
Â
The team will fly out of San Jose tomorrow at 1:20 p.m. to head back to Troy. For more information on Troy men's basketball, follow the team on Instagram and Twitter at @TroyMensHoops or visit TroyTrojans.com.
