TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team hits the links for the first time in 2018-19 with a reloaded roster mixed with veterans and fresh faces at The Lady Maxwell this weekend at Dornick Hills in Ardmore, Okla.
The eight-team field will play 54 holes with one round each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the par-71, 6,120-yard course. Under second-year head coach Randy Keck, Troy is coming off a second-place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
"Everyone had a good summer and we are a much deeper team this year than last," Keck said. "This group is going to compete and they are going to attack a golf course. We brought in six new players, which is a big group in golf, but we're an experienced team."
Bianca Lohbauer, who enters the season second all-time in Troy history with a 75.71 stroke average in her career, is back for her senior season along with Lindsey Harrison, who is 10thall-time in career stroke average, and Sarah Harrison, who finished second with a 76.44 stroke average last season.
Jordan Susce joins the program after playing her freshman season at Louisville last year and will get the nod in the opener while freshman Nicole Lorup, a native of Denmark, will make her collegiate debut and Judith Castro, a transfer from San Jose State, will play as an individual.
"We played really well down the stretch last year once we got past the learning curve for both the players and myself early on," Keck said. "It is going to be very important from a rankings standpoint to get off to a good start. We are going to be a much more offensive team this year. Because of our depth, we're going to be able to make some more birdies at the bottom of our lineup and that will allow us to attack some more flags."
T-Time
Teams will play together in Friday and Saturday's rounds before pairings are set for Sunday's final 18 holes. The Trojans are scheduled to tee off at 1 p.m. in Friday's opening round and at 9:54 a.m. on Saturday. There will be no live scoring for the event.
