TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team will play five home non-conference games, head coach Chanda Rigby announced on Tuesday.
Games against Florida State, Samford, Alabama State, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss and Jacksonville State highlight the 2018-19 slate. A full listing of tip times will be released at a later date. Troy fans will have their first opportunity to catch the Trojans in action on Nov. 1 in an exhibition against West Florida. The Trojans will also host Samford (Nov. 12), Tennessee State (Nov. 16), Alabama State (Nov. 29), Middle Tennessee (Dec. 4) and Talladega (Dec. 12).
The two-time Sun Belt Conference Tournament champions open the regular season in Tallahassee on Nov. 6 against nationally-ranked Florida State. The Seminoles finished last season 26-7, ranked No. 11 by USA Today and the Associated Press, and advanced to the NCAA Second Round. The matchup will be the fifth all-time meeting between Troy and FSU with the last taking place in 2003; the series is tied 2-2.
The Trojans take on Middle Tennessee (Dec. 4) and Ole Miss (Dec. 19) for the second straight year. The Blue Raiders return to Trojan Arena for the first time since departing the Sun Belt Conference after Rigby's first season in 2012-13. Troy dropped a heartbreaker in Oxford last season, 96-93, but return to face the Rebels seeking redemption.
On Nov. 23 and 24, Troy will take part in the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Southern Mississippi. The Trojans' opponents have yet to be announced but the team will play a pair of games in the Hattiesburg event.
