TROY, Alabama – For the first time in program history, Troy volleyball's recruiting class has been named one of the best in the country by PrepVolleyball.com.
The website, presumably the top source for high school and club volleyball news, listed the Trojans as a "High Honorable Mention" in its ranking of all NCAA Division I volleyball signing classes.
Troy is one of just three Sun Belt schools mentioned in the release, joining Texas State and Appalachian State – Texas State earned "Highest Honorable Mention" honors.
One of the top signees in the class is Amara Anderson, who was named one of the nation's top 250 recruits by the website. Anderson and seven others will link up with eight returning Trojans as the 2018 season begins in late August.
"I'm excited and honored our 2018 recruiting class has been recognized as one of the top classes in the nation by Prepvolleyball.com," Troy head coach Josh Lauer said. "This is a first for our program and a testament to the hard work of our coaching staff in the evaluation process and the environment our current players have created to attract talented teammates. I'm looking forward to continuing our positive recruiting momentum into the future. It's all a part of us building the empire!"
