Troy Closes Road Stretch with Sweep at ULM

MONROE, Louisiana – Troy finished its season-long, seven-game road stretch with a 4-2 victory over ULM to complete the Sun Belt road series sweep at Warhawk Field Sunday afternoon.

With the sweep, the Trojans (35-17, 17-10) now have two road sweeps this year – the first time since 2007 that the club has done so.

Different than the first two games of the three-game set, Troy fell behind early but was able to claw back and come away with the win. Daren Osby (6-1) allowed a two-run homer in the first but bounced back with six scoreless after that to earn the win – the senior allowed seven hits in seven innings.

Brody Binder responded to that two-run first with a solo homer to lead off the top of the second – his third home run this season – and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Binder, Matt Sanders and Joey Denison each finished the weekend with multiple hits in all three games.

Sanders went 2-for-5 with two runs scored to extend his NCAA-leading run total to 74 this year – just one shy of Troy's single-season record.

Denison wrapped up his outstanding week offensively with two RBIs on two hits – reaching 64 on the season. In the four games this week, he was 11-for-15 (.733) with nine RBIs, six runs, four walks, two doubles and two stolen bases.

ULM (22-28, 10-17) got all of its offensive production from a two-run round-tripper off the bat of Chad Bell in the first inning. Bell was responsible for all three of the Warhawks' earned runs in the series. The loss was handed to Justin Olaughlin (2-2) who allowed three runs – two earned – on five hits in five innings of work.

The Trojans closed out the regular season road slate with a win and finished with an 11-4 record in conference play on the road. The only Sun Belt series Troy lost away from home came at Georgia Southern last weekend.

Noteworthy
• Senior Joey Denison's finished off his final regular season road series in a Troy uniform with a bang. On the four-game road trip this week, Denison was 11-for-15 (.733) with nine RBIs, six runs, four walks, two doubles and two stolen bases.

• Troy completed conference road sweeps at Arkansas State and ULM, marking the first time since 2007 that the program had two road sweeps of any sort in a season. That year, the Trojans swept Florida Atlantic and Arkansas State on their way to an NCAA Regional appearance.

• The weekend sweep solidified this team as the best in the Mark Smartt era at Troy. After 32 and 31 wins in the first two seasons, respectively, the Trojans have already reached 35 with four more regular season games remaining.
