LAFAYETTE, Louisiana- Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, Troy's Annie Willis and the Pitcher of the Year, Texas State's Randi Rupp, duked it out in the circle in the fifth game of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday. Texas State came out on top 1-0, knocking Troy into the elimination round.

Troy's bats were finding the ball as the Trojans recorded back-to-back two-out singles from Katie Webb and Stephanie Snyder in the first inning. Carli Kayler put another hit on the board with a single into left field. Kaylee Hussey got on with a hard hit single into centerfield and Snyder capped the hitting with a shot down the left line.

Texas State plated its lone run of the meeting with a triple and a sacrifice fly in the home half of the fourth. The Bobcats threatened a few more times, but Troy's defense continued to impress, limiting the damage, but the offense struggled to cross the plate.

Annie Willis and Peyton Glover split time in the circle. Willis threw 4.1 innings and took the tough loss, but Glover entered the game in a bases-loaded situation to get the Trojans out of the jam.

Troy will face South Alabama at 3 p.m. in an elimination game. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
