TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball will host Alabama A&M Tuesday night before heading to Montgomery to do battle with Alabama State on Wednesday in a pair of midweek meetings with in-state foes; first pitch is set for 6 p.m. both nights.
The Trojans (23-12) will welcome Alabama A&M to Riddle-Pace Field for "Dollar Night" – featuring $1 tickets, $1 popcorn and $1 soft drinks.
Troy is coming off a tight series loss to the nation's 17th-ranked team in Coastal Carolina. In the opener, the Trojans won 4-2 but dropped the final two games, 2-3 and 4-5. The pitching staff was most impressive, holding the highly touted Chant offense to just 10 runs in the three games.
Sophomore southpaw Max Newton (1-0, 1.47) will start Tuesday's matchup, while junior Sadler Goodwin (2-2, 5.64) will get the nod on Wednesday.
In the meeting with Alabama State at Riddle-Pace Field on March 27, the Trojans exploded for a season-high 19 hits and dominated the Hornets on the scoreboard, 14-1. Troy and Alabama A&M haven't met since 2016.
The Bulldogs (7-30) enter on a 10-game losing skid, including being swept this past weekend by Alabama State – were outscored 39-20 in the three-game conference series. After the trip to Troy, they will return home to host Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night.
