Trojans Welcome No. 21 Louisiana to Troy Softball Complex

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team (17-12, 3-3 SBC) will make its return home after a seven-game road stretch as it plays host to No. 21 Louisiana (18-6, 5-1 SBC) for a three-game Sun Belt series on March 24 and 25. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1 and 3 p.m., while Sunday's finale will begin at noon.

It will be battle of the defenses as Troy tops the Sun Belt and ranks fifth nationally in fielding percentage with .982. Louisiana holds down the second place spot in the conference at .974.

Troy will return to its home turf after picking up a conference series win against ULM winning both games on Saturday, 2-0 and 14-3, while the sweep fell just short in Sunday's game. . The Trojans had a tough midweek matchup against the 14th-ranked Florida State Seminoles, as they dropped in both games of the doubleheader.

Solid offensive performances from sophomores Logan Calhoun and Katie Webb have powered the Trojans so far this season. Webb leads the team batting . 380 with four home runs, eight doubles and 23 RBI. Calhoun rans first in the Sun Belt with 26 runs scored and second in the conference with 36 hits.

Freshman ace Annie Willis highlights the Troy pitching staff with a 1.75 ERA through 60.0 innings of work, ranking her third in the league. Peyton Glover has also been dynamite in the circle this season, fanning 59 on the year.

The Ragin Cajuns enter the weekend riding a five-game winning streak after sweeping Appalachian State at home. It's lone conference loss comes against Coastal Carolina in the first weekend of conference play.

Junior third baseman Kara Gremillion leads the Ragin Cajuns hitting .382 and leads the Sun Belt with 12 stolen bases, just one more than Troy's Calhoun. Summer Ellyson has been strong in the circle for Louisiana posting 1.54 ERA with 71 strikeouts.

- •Troy ranks first in the Sun Belt with 120 RBI and second with 41 doubles. It ranks top-five in total bases (306), plate appearances (889), at-bats (765), walks (71), hit by pitch (19), stolen bases (37), home runs (15), runs scored (132) and hits (216).
- Katie Webb leads the conference with 11 double plays turned this year; Madeline Porter is tied for sixth in the category.
- This is the first series of the year that will be broadcast on ESPN3. Graham Doty and former Troy standout Becca Hartley will be on the call.
- Nine different Trojans have blasted a home run this season, led by Webb with four. Bailey Taylor's and Stephanie Snyder's home runs were both grand slams.
- Troy has out-scored its opponents 132-102 and is 15-4 when scoring first.
