TROY, Ala. – As the regular season nears conclusion, Troy will take the time to honor four seniors on Saturday in the final home game of the regular season as the Trojans welcome ULM to Trojan Arena in a key battle in the standings.
Â
Kevin Baker, Juan Davis, Jr., Jaro Moravek and Wesley Person will all be recognized as members of this year's graduating class. The four seniors all played instrumental roles in securing Troy's Sun Belt Championship last season, which was the first in school history and sent the Trojans to March Madness for just the second time ever.
Â
Few athletes in Troy history will be able to boast more accolades than Person as he has already broken the school scoring record and the Sun Belt record for most made 3-pointers this season. With 14 points on Saturday, Person will become the first player in Troy's 78-year history to reach 2,000 career points.
Â
A big night from Person could help the Trojans (13-15, 7-8) get back on the winning track. The Trojans have dropped the past two following a four-game winning streak after the rally effort against Louisiana on Thursday came up short in an 81-76 defeat.
Â
Troy currently sits in a tie with South Alabama in sixth place in the Sun Belt standings at a conference record of 7-8. ULM (14-12, 8-7) is just ahead in the fourth spot. The top four seeds in the conference receive a first-round bye in the Sun Belt Tournament, which begins on March 6 in New Orleans, La.
Â
ULM got off to a 1-6 start in the Sun Belt, but a 76-71 comeback victory against Troy on Jan. 25 in Monroe, La. Sparked the team's current 7-1 streak. Of those seven victories, all have come by less than 10 points with the most recent being a 66-62 win at South Alabama on Thursday.
