Softball Welcomes No. 13 Auburn; Makes ESPN3 Debut

TROY, Ala.- The Troy softball team (3-0) will welcome the No. 13 Auburn Tigers (6-0) to the Troy Softball Complex for the first midweek match up of the 2018 season on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. ESPN3 will broadcast the game for the first time in Troy softball history.

The Trojans are coming off a 3-0 sweep at the Troy Classic, where they defeated Tennessee State, Alabama State, and Valparaiso. The last two games of the tournament were canceled due to inclement weather.

Troy outscored its opponents 23-1 last weekend, debuting with a 9-1 win over Tennessee State and back-to-back 7-0 victories against Alabama State and Valparaiso.

Peyton Glover paved the way in the circle with a complete game shutout against Alabama State, the first of her career. She also tossed a career-high 10 strikeouts against the Hornets, doubling her previous career-high of five she threw against ULM in 2016.

Offensively, senior Erica Davis leads the Trojans batting .667 with two runs, four hits and two RBI during Troy's opening weekend. Sophomore Katie Webb also had a dominate performance over the weekend with six hits, one home run, six RBI and .545 at the plate.

Troy ranks ninth nationally and leads the Sun Belt Conference with a 0.37 ERA, after only allowing one run through 19 innings. The Trojans also rank first with a 1.000 fielding percentage and third offensively with .347 average at the plate.

Auburn travels to Troy after going 6-0 at the Plainsman Invite. The Tigers defeated Marshall, Wichita State, Tennessee Tech and Furman. Senior Victoria Draper leads the Tigers recording a .538 at the plate with seven runs off seven hits. Pitcher Kaylee Carlson earned three wins in the circle with 20 strikeouts and 0.00 ERA.

- Freshmen Kelly Horne and Bailey Taylor had big debuts as Horne went 1-3 with a three-RBI single and Taylor went 2-3 with a double and four RBI.
- Annie Willis made her first appearance in the circle against Valparaiso, pitching 1.0 inning and striking out two batters.
