Troy Falls at No. 11 Florida State

Tallahassee, Fla. – Troy dropped an 83-67 decision to a physical No. 11 Florida State team on Monday night in non-conference basketball action inside of David L. Tucker Civic Center.Â

The Trojans (3-5) went into halftime only trailing by nine, 37-28, after shooting 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from the field without knocking down a three-pointer.Â

Senior Jordon Varnado led the way for the Trojans, posting 15 points, five boards, a pair of blocks and an assist while sophomore Darian Adams added a career-high 14 points on 60 percent (6-of-10) shooting from the field.Â

Troy hung tight with 11th-ranked FSU (7-1) early in the second half, cutting the Seminoles' lead to just two (42-40) with 17:16 remaining on a three-pointer from senior BJ Miller. Florida State answered Miller's with its own three-pointer that sparked an 8-0 run to gain a 10-point lead with 15:29 left and the Seminoles never looked back.Â
