Troy, Ala. – Troy welcomes Carver College to Trojan Arena for a midweek contest on Wednesday. Tip is set for 2:15 p.m., immediately following the conclusion of the women's game at noon. Admission is free for both games.
The Trojans (3-5) are coming off an 83-67 loss to then-No. 11 Florida State on Dec. 3 in Tallahassee, Fla. Troy was able to bring the score within two points in the second half, but the Seminoles rolled off multiple runs to close out the win.
In the game, sophomore Darian Adams poured in a career-high 14 points on 6-of-10 (60 percent) shooting from the field. Senior Jordon Varnado scored 15 points alongside five rebounds and a pair of assists.
On the season Varnado leads the team in points per game (16.0), 10th-most in the Sun Belt Conference, and rebounds per game (7.9), fifth-most in conference. Three other Trojans join Varnado in averaging double figures – seniors Alex Hicks (11.3) and BJ Miller (10.6) and sophomore Javan Johnson (10.5).
Additionally, Miller paces the Trojans in assists per game (2.9) and steals per game (1.5) which is fifth in conference.
Scouting Carver College
Carver College (0-16) dropped an 82-54 decision to Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday in Kentucky. In the game, junior Antonio Gardner nearly posted a double double in 14 points and nine rebounds with two assists and a steal. Junior Chris Iverson added 11 points off the bench alongside two rebounds an assist and four steals.
Gardner leads the team averaging 11.3ppg and 6.5rpg on the year while sophomore Rayford Washington adds 10.0ppg with a team high 35.8 percent (19-53) from three.
Carver College is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Series History
Wednesday's contest marks the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
