2019 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-Americans
TROY, Ala. – Troy junior Drew Frederic has been named to the 2019 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-America Team, the newspaper announced Monday.
An All-Sun Belt first teamer in 2018, Frederic was named to the third team and is one of four Sun Belt players selected to the list. On top of his all-conference honors last season, he was also chosen to the Athens Regional All-Tournament team and ABCA/Rawlings Division I All-Central Region second team.
"Drew certainly earned this type of recognition after his performance in 2018," Troy head coach Mark Smartt said. "He has improved each year he's been in the program and that's the main reason I believe he will continue to have success in 2019."
The Niceville, Fla., native was a key component in Troy's run to the NCAA Regional last June. Frederic batted at a .331 clip with 20 doubles and seven homers in his sophomore season. More impressively, he managed to swipe 28 bases – in 31 tries – which ranked 20th nationally and is the third-most by a Preseason All-American on this year's list.
Frederic is the first Troy player named to a Preseason All-America since Tyler Vaughn received the honors prior to the 2014 season.
The Trojans will begin their 2019 campaign with a four-game series against Central Michigan starting Feb. 15 at Riddle-Pace Field. Season tickets are now available at TroyTrojans.com/Tickets or by contacting the Troy Ticket Office at (334) 670-3681.
