MONROE, La. – Troy wrapped up a perfect weekend road trip with a four-set conference victory over ULM at Fant-Ewing Coliseum Saturday night.
Following a big win at Louisiana on Friday night, Troy (8-11, 2-4) carried that momentum into Monroe and clinched another solid victory in Sun Belt Conference play.
For the fourth match in a row, Troy took one of its team mantras to heart and "started fast" with a first-set win. The Trojans dropped the second set but bounced back in a big way to take sets three and four.
Troy's defense once again provided the spark that helped the squad topple another opponent, recording 71 digs as a team. Freshmen Amara Anderson and Lacey Jeffcoat led the charge with 23 and 19 digs, respectively. Along with Anderson's 23 digs, she also recorded 45 assists for her 10th double-double this season.
The Trojan offense was effective, as well, with three players in the double digit kills category – Savannah Moore, Cheyenne Hayes and Logan Page. Moore tallied 15 with a .290 hitting percentage, Hayes had 15 with a .234 and Page posted a .381 with 11 kills.
The Warhawks (7-12, 0-6) fell in yet another league match, their ninth consecutive dating back to a five-set win at Troy last season. SaraGrace Wilson ensured that wouldn't happen again delivering two of her team-high five service aces in the match-clinching set.
Quotable – Troy Head Coach Josh Lauer
"ULM is well-coached, and they forced us to play better in each set. Our defense continued to shine tonight with 71 digs and double-doubles for both Amara (Anderson) and Cheyenne (Hayes). Offensively, Logan (Page) and Savannah (Moore) set a great tone and SaraGrace Wilson's serving was absolutely clutch late in the match. This was a great weekend for us to build on as we head back on the road next weekend."
Notable
• Cheyenne Hayes continued her double-digit kill streak with 15 kills in the match to extend it to 17 straight games.
• Troy won both of its conference road games this weekend – the Trojans won just three Sun Belt road games the past two seasons (3-13).
Up Next
Troy continues its longest road trip in its conference season with a trip to face Georgia Southern and Georgia State next Friday and Saturday – both defeated the Trojans last weekend.
