Troy Men's Tennis Concludes Play at Steve Baras Invitational

Chattanooga, Tenn. - On the third day of the Steve Baras Invitational the Trojans were back in action to wrap up matches that were postponed due to weather. Led by junior Christopher Tasker, the Trojans were able to get wins in singles and doubles play.
At the fourth spot, Christopher Tasker won his second match in a third set tiebreaker, 1-6, 6-3, 1-0(8). However, in the following game he fell short against Simon Bustamente from Chattanooga, 6-0,6-7(3), 1-0(10). Freshman Trey Whittaker impressed with performance in singles play by winning two in a row. In the first match, Whittaker defeated Chad Woodham from Austin Peay, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(8) and Cooper Long from Chattanooga, 6-2, 6-2. Ignacio Rodriguez won his singles match Anton Damberg, 8-7.
The Trojans were able to get only one win in doubles play, where Ignacio Rodriguez and Shaaz Peerani won their match against Timo Kiesslich/ Jacob Lorino from Austin Peay, 6-4.

"It was a good tournament,where we got to play many matches against different teams. The competition was good. I believe, that I learned a lot from some of the players. We faced much adversity, where we had to adjust to different conditions. We had to play indoors on a fast surface, and we had to play on a very slow outdoor after rain delays. Chris did a good job at No.4 spot by winning two matches after coming from injuries. Trey got his first career wins and Selma got a solid win at No.2 spot. So, every time you see players showing improvement - it is a positive sign. There are many things that we still need to work on, and there are a few players that I still need to see compete. I am excited for the spring season to begin."
