Troy Drops Hard-Fought Match to Texas State

TROY, Ala. – Troy fell in three tight sets to red-hot Texas State (25-17, 25-22, 25-19) at Trojan Arena Saturday night.
The Bobcats (20-5, 11-0) have been one of the hottest teams in the country of late, winning 15 straight matches after Saturday's sweep of the Trojans (10-13, 4-6).
Troy saw an 12-5 lead vanish in the opening set due to a fierce, 11-point rally from Texas State to flip the momentum, followed by a four-point push to pull away even further in the 25-17 opening set victory.
Set two was a battle from the start as neither team was able to sustain a rally longer than three points. After 15 ties and six lead changes, Texas State was finally able to clinch the frame at 25-22.
In the final set the score stayed close, but the Bobcats remained in control from start to finish en route to their 20th win in 2018 and 10th consecutive win over Troy.
Senior Logan Page turned in a solid hitting performance with nine kills and a .375 attacking percentage, while also posting four total blocks for team-best 11.5 points. Closely behind Page was Savannah Moore with eight kills and Cheyenne Hayes with seven.
With 11 digs and 25 assists, freshman Amara Anderson recorded her 13th double-double on the year and eighth in the last nine matches.
Quotable – Head Coach Josh Lauer
"I'm proud of the way we played tonight. (Texas State) is really good. They're the No. 28 team in the country. We didn't play well last night, and they knew that, so they were trying to feel us out early. But our girls responded with great effort out of the gate. It turned into a battle and a dogfight, and I think we had their backs against the walls but they responded like a good team does."

The Trojans go back on the road next weekend to face off with Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina Friday and Sunday.
