Troy Wraps Up Day One of ITA Regionals

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Sophomore Pelayo Antuna led the way for the Troy men's tennis team on Thursday evening as the Trojans opened up action at the ITA Regionals hosted by Alabama.
Antuna advanced to the final round of the ITA Regionals by defeating Fernando Vargas from UAB in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. He will face Brandon Laubser, the No. 3 seed in the tournament on Friday morning at 11 a.m.
Sophomore Jorge Poyatos fell short against Aljaz Kaplja from Jacksonville State, 0-6, 3-6. Senior Jiaqi Duan defeated Chung Han Tsai from Southern Miss in consecutive sets (7-5, 6-3), but lost his second match in a three-set thriller to Finn Reynolds from Ole Miss, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to get knocked out of the tournament.
