Troy Tennis Heads to Oxford For ITA Regionals

TROY, Alabama – After an ultra-successful opening weekend, the Troy women's tennis team returns to action on Friday in the ITA Regionals hosted by Ole Miss.
Celia Montero Estevan won the Flight C singles title, while Estevan and Maria Casas Blas teamed up to take the Flight B doubles crown in the Mercer Girdiron Classic last weekend.
Estevan topped her doubles partner (7-6 (6), 7-6 (4)) to complete the five-match sweep in Flight C. The duo came together to defeat Worthy Goldman and Maria Popova of Alabama State in the doubles finals.
Freshman Chunxi Guo fell just short in the Flight B finals falling (3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4)) to Mercer's Celine Schepers.
18 teams will participate in the nationally sanctioned event, including league-rivals Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU.
In addition to the outdoor courts of Palmer/Salloum, matches will be held at the Indoor Tennis Center located on campus and the city's FNC Tennis Center- John Leslie Courts.
Matches will begin at 8 A.M. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the championships beginning at noon on Monday. Monday's championships will be streamed and live scoring will also be provided.
Competitors will be divided into a Main Doubles Draw and a 'B' Flight, while there will also be a 64-member Main Draw for singles and 'B' Flight, as well as a consolations draw for the singles main draw. All four draws will be revealed Thursday, Oct. 11.
