TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's golf team returns to the links Sunday through Tuesday for the Magnolia Invitational at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss.
The Trojans are coming off a fifth-place finish at the USA Intercollegiate to open the season a couple weeks ago. It was the debut of head coach Randy Keck with a new-look Troy lineup that featured two new players and only two that played in the majority of the Trojans' events last year.
Keck will roll out a similar lineup for the Magnolia Invitational led by junior Bianca Lohbauer, who tied for ninth at the USA Intercollegiate with a 1-over 217 thanks to a pair of rounds under par.
Junior college transfer Sarah Harrison turned in an impressive debut for the Trojans with a 2-over 218, which included a 1-under 71 in the second round. Keck will also turn to junior Lindsey Harrison (74.67), freshman Eva Fabricius-Bjerre (75.33) and junior Antonia Poate (76.33) at the Magnolia Invitational.
The entire 10-team field for the par-72, 6,320-yard course at Old Waverly finished the 2016-17 season inside the Golfstat top 90 led by No. 30 Tennessee, No. 42 Augusta and No. 47 Auburn.
The Field
No. 30 Tennessee, No. 42 Augusta, No. 47 Auburn, No. 54 Kansas State, No. 59 Mississippi State, No. 60 Ole Miss, No. 64 LSU, No. 74 Memphis, No. 76 Southern Miss, No. 90 Troy
T-Time
Troy is scheduled to hit the course for Sunday's opening round beginning at 8:20 a.m. and the Trojans will play the opening round with individual competitors.
Quotable – Head Coach Randy Keck
"They have really stepped up at practices and have been move specific with what they've been doing instead of just hitting balls. There has been a little bit of an attitude change since the last time we played and they are buying into what we are working on.
"This team is good enough to win and I want to see us compete, work hard and not give up. The ultimate goal and what I preach every day is I expect to win."
