TROY, Alabama – Troy Athletics has released its Year in Review, a 48-page publication highlighting the Trojans' historic 2016-17 athletic year. It is available to fans on Troy's athletic website, TroyTrojans.com.
Â
"We are very proud of the accomplishment by all of our student-athletes during the 2016-17 athletic season on the field, in the classroom and in the community," Troy Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain said. "We had a lot to celebrate last season and this Year in Review is one way to honor the hard work of everyone associated with Troy Athletics. Our hope, as we continue to move forward as a department, is that 2016-17 was the foundation for a future of sustained success for many years to come."
Â
During the year, the Trojans claimed Sun Belt Conference titles in men's and women's basketball as well as women's golf. Troy sent a total of five teams to the NCAA postseason and was the only school in the nation to have both its men's and women's basketball teams in the NCAA Tournament as well as its football team in a bowl game.
Â
More importantly, Troy excelled in the classroom. Ninety-eight athletes were named to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll and as a whole Trojan student-athletes posted an overall GPA of 3.0 including two programs, women's golf and women's cross country, turning in perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores.
