Seth Calloway Named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

TROY, Alabama – Troy senior defensive end Seth Calloway has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the All Sports Association announced Tuesday.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented annually by the All Sports Association in Fort Walton Beach Florida. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Calloway started the final three games of the 2016 season for the Trojans and his impact was immediate. The Ariton, Ala., native recovered a fumble, broke up a pass that led to an interception and recorded a tackle for loss in Troy's victory over Ohio in the Dollar General Bowl. He finished the season with 30 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss, while recording three quarterback hurries and three pass break ups from his defensive line position.

Calloway has also been very active in the Troy community voulunteering at the Christian Love Center, Boys and Girls Club, Relay for Life and Troy for Troops. Additionally, he received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice this past spring and has been a consistent member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List.

Voting for the Wuerffel Trophy is performed by a National Selection Committee that includes college football television and print media, industry notables, former head coaches and prior Wuerffel Trophy recipients. The formal announcement of the 2017 recipient will be made at the National Football Foundation's press conference in New York City on December 5.

Coming off the best turnaround in the country, an Associated Press Top 25 ranking, the first 10-win season in the school's FBS history and a Dollar General Bowl title, Troy will be among the favorites in the Sun Belt Conference and the Group of Five with 17 starters and 54 lettermen returning from the 2016 squad.

Troy set single-season records last season for both overall attendance and per-game attendance. The Trojans once again have six home games in The Vet including in-state matchups with Alabama State and South Alabama.
Season ticket packages start at low as $60 for general admission seats and fans have multiple options to choose from including Family 4-Packs, Stadium Club and reserved seating.
