Troy Volleyball Announces 2017 Schedule

TROY, Alabama- The Troy volleyball program and first year head coach Josh Lauer announced the Trojans' 2017 schedule on Monday. The schedule features nine home Sun Belt Conference matchups, two mid-week games and road matches against SEC opponents South Carolina and Alabama.

"We have put together a very competitive schedule for the fall," head coach Josh Lauer said. "It was our goal to challenge our team throughout the non-conference schedule in preparation for a very competitive Sun Belt schedule this year. The opening weekend of play we will face stiff competition from teams setting their goals on NCAA births in 2017. I am excited about our opening weekend here in Trojan Arena on September 1 and 2."

The Trojans will open the season on August 25 when they travel to Columbia, S.C. for the South Carolina Gamecock Invitational that will feature Troy, North Florida, host team South Carolina, Mercer and Kennesaw State.

Troy will make its season debut in Trojan Arena on September 1, as they host the Troy Invitational against Northwestern State, Winthrop and Jackson State. Troy will host its first mid-week match against in-state opponent UAB on Tuesday, September 5.

The Trojans will close out tournament play on the road as they head to Morehead, Ky., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., back-to-back weekends for the Morehead State Comfort Inn-vitational and the Alabama Crimson and White Tournament.

Following tournament play, Troy will open conference competition in Texas with weekend matches against UTA and Texas State. The Trojans will return home to host Georgia Southern and Georgia State at the end of September, and will face the Eagles and Panthers again on the road two weeks later.

The team will head to Mobile, Ala., to face South Alabama on Wednesday, October 4 and will return home to host the Jaguars on Saturday, October 7.Â

The Trojans will host their final mid-week match against Alabama State on Tuesday, October 17. Three of the final four weekends of the season, Troy will be at home and will host Arkansas State, Little Rock, ULM and UL Lafayette before closing the season out against Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina in Trojan Arena. Â

The top eight teams in the Sun Belt will travel to Jonesboro, Ark., for the conference tournament hosted by Arkansas State November 17-19.
