LEXINGTON, Kentucky – Troy outdoor track and field wrapped up its 2017 campaign at the NCAA East Preliminaries this weekend in Lexington.
Freshman Titus Sizemore placed the highest of all Trojans at the meet, finishing 24th with a 2.05-meter high jump. Sizemore was followed closely by senior Corina Wieser-Cox, who finished 29th in the women's discus event with a 49.12-meter toss.
Sun Belt Male Field Athlete of the Year Zach Douglas placed 30th in the shot put after a 17.19-meter throw and 45th after tossing the discus 49.19 meters. Hakim Montgomery – a two-time Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week – ran the 100-meter dash in 10.73 seconds, which was good enough for 46th.
Connor Brookman and Michael Alvernaz rounded out the competition for the Trojans in the javelin and hammer throw events, respectively.

"Unfortunately we did not advance any athletes to the NCAA Championships in Eugene," Troy track and field director Marc Davis said. "But with the young talent we have on our team and the way these men and women competed, we are certain we will have more opportunities in the near future. These athletes represent the heart and soul of Troy track and field; their work ethic and desire to succeed in the sport serves not only as an inspiration to members of our team, but as an excellent embodiment of the Trojan Way of representing oneself as well as Troy University in its entirety."
