Crane, Lockridge Named First Team All-Sun Belt; Crane Newcomer of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Troy baseball's Andrew Crane and Brandon Lockridge were each selected as First Team All-Sun Belt players and Crane was named Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, the league office announced Monday.

Andrew Crane, a Pascagoula, Miss., native, has pitched in 15 games this season – with seven of those coming as starts – and has a 6-1 record for the Trojans. He currently holds the longest consecutive scoreless inning streak in Troy and Sun Belt history (39.2 IP) and is only 7.1 innings from holding the longest streak in the country since the switch to metal bats in 1975.

Crane has posted the second best earned run average in the country (0.93) and ranks 10^th nationally in WHIP (0.86) – both of which lead the league. He is 17^th in the NCAA and second in the conference in hits allowed per nine innings (5.74) and ranks fourth in the conference in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.38) and walks allowed per nine innings (2.02).

Sophomore second baseman Brandon Lockridge has started in all of Troy's 55 games this season. He currently ranks 14^th nationally and leads the Sun Belt in hits with 83, while also leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference batting at a .349 clip.

Lockridge went on a career-high 17-game hitting streak and reached base safely in 32 straight games to start the 2017 campaign. He also leads the team with 29 multi-hit games this season.

It is the third year in a row that Troy has had at least one starting pitcher named to an All-Sun Belt team, while Lockridge became the first Trojan infielder to receive All-Conference honors since second baseman Garrett Pitts in 2014.

The two will lead No. 6 Troy against No. 3 South Alabama Wednesday at 8 a.m. (CT) in the opening round of the 2017 Sun Belt Baseball Championship; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and fans can listen along on the Troy Sports Radio Network.
