Women’s Tennis Defeats Georgia Southern 4-1

MOBILE, Alabama – Troy women's tennis team traveled to Mobile, Ala., where it defeated Georgia Southern 4-1 in a neutral match location on Saturday. Troy is now 6-12 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
In doubles, the Eagles took the early point after Troy took match one on court one with a 6-0 sweep, but Georgia Southern came back to take the next two matches as they picked up a 6-2 win on court three and a 6-3 win on court two.
The Trojans came back strong in singles sweeping the Eagles to come out on top 4-1. Efriliaya Herlina picked up the first win on court 4-0 as she defeated Lindsay Truscott 6-4, 6-1. Jiayuan Xue followed on court five with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mariana Ranzahuer.
Hannah Seizer came back to win her match in three sets. After falling 0-6 in set one, Seizer bounced back to win set two 6-0 and set three 7-5. Sanae Ohta followed that win on court one with a 7-5, 7-5 win to clinch the match for the Trojans.
Nancy Karaky and Luisa Ferrauti both had matches go unfinished after Troy clinched the match, but Karaky had a 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 lead at the time the match was called.
Troy will travel to New Orleans on Sunday to face Tulane, before returning back to Mobile to take on Middle Tennessee and South Alabama on April 15 and 16.
