Football Wraps Solid Alumni Day Scrimmage

Quotable Neal Brown
We had a really good afternoon. I thought we did a lot of good things on both sides of the ball, but we weren't as physical as I'd like, and I think that's because we're holding guys out. Today, we practiced half the time and scrimmaged half the time in all situation football, and I thought some guys stuck out.
On defense, I thought Trevon Sanders especially stood out. We did an opening drive to start the practice and defense dominated on that. He got penetration on just about every snap. I thought Tron Folsom, who has kind of been up and down this spring, did some nice things early on in the scrimmage. I thought AJ Smiley showed up, defensively, and I think Andre Flakes is getting better. We're working him at safety and at spear.
Offensively, I think Jamarius Henderson continues to show up in live situations. Then the usual suspects, Emanuel Thompson and Deondre Douglas made some plays in scrimmage settings as well.
I think overall we had probably our best practice on Thursday so far this spring. I thought today was a day that I don't know if we beat the best teams on our schedule with the effort and energy we had today. I'm going to say it wasn't good enough. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good enough to meet our standards and expectations. We've got to regroup. We've got four days left and I firmly believe in getting the most out of spring ball.
On T-Day
T-Day is going to be more of an event than anything. What I need to see this week is that we need to have a workman-like attitude and more of a tough mentality. I not sure we had a tough mentality about us today. Saturday, we need to be able to perform. This is going to be a great event for families and our students. It's going to be fun with a lot of interactive things. We're going to do some different challenges and competitions as part of T-Day.
