NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – With the regular season now concluded, Troy heads to New Orleans for the Sun Belt Championship starting with a matchup against Coastal Carolina on Friday at 3 p.m.
The Trojans (13-10) closed out the regular season with three-straight wins and wins in five of the final six matches to clinch the four seed in the tournament. Outside of a loss to No. 44 South Alabama on April 6, Troy has not allowed more than two points to any opponent since March 19.
Coastal Carolina, the five seed, also enters on a roll after winning seven-straight before falling 4-0 to Georgia Southern to end the season. The Chanticleers went 9-4 at home but were even away from home with a 3-3 away record and 1-1 neutral record.
A win in the first round would pit Troy against the winner between No. 1 Georgia State and No. 8 Louisiana. The Trojans faced Georgia State in the second game of the dual season and fell 4-0.
NOTEWORTHY
• Troy can clinch a second conference title in three years after the Trojans won in 2015.
• There will be live stats for the first round and live broadcasts on ESPN3 for the semifinals and finals.
