TROY, Alabama- The Troy women's tennis team defeated USC Upstate 5-2 on Monday in their second home match of the season at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans improve to 3-8 on the season.

The Spartans took the early doubles point as they defeated Troy in two of the three matches to take a 1-0 lead. Jiayuan Xue and Efriliya Herlina won the Trojans lone doubles match powering past the Spartans 6-1.

Troy did not let an early deficit defeat them as they bounced back to win five of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 win on the day. Sanae Ohta won her match on court one 6-2, 6-2. On court two, Hannah Seizer took her match to three sets but defeated Vale Zarama 4-6, 6-2 (10-4). Herlina defeated her Spartan opponent 6-3, 6-3 as did Alicia Rodriguez on court five. Luisa Ferrauti closed out the match on court six with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Morgan Dodd.

Up next, Troy will travel to Fort Myers, Fla., where they will take on Xavier and FGCU on March 9 and 10. Both match times are set for 11 a.m.
