Troy Announces Football Homecoming Game

TROY, Alabama – Troy University Alumni Association and Troy Athletics have announced that the late October game against Georgia Southern has been selected as the 2017 Homecoming contest.

Homecoming is officially set for Oct. 28 as Georgia Southern will make its eighth all-time trip to Veterans Memorial Stadium in a series that dates to 1934. The teams have met three times since the Eagles joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2014.

The Trojans will host their first full scrimmage of spring camp on Friday, March 31 – Troy's annual Friday Night Lights. Due to the North End Zone Facility construction, the scrimmage has been bumped up to 4 p.m. Also dubbed Student Appreciation Day, the scrimmage will feature a wide variety of contests and promotions geared specifically for Troy University students. Troy's second scrimmage will take place on April 8 in conjunction with Alumni Weekend before the Trojans wrap up spring practice with T-Day at noon on April 15.

Last season, the Trojans defeated Ohio University, 28-23, in the Dollar General Bowl to finish 10-3 marking the first time in the school's FBS history that the program reached the 10-win plateau. Troy finished with a six-win improvement from 2015, which was tied for the best turnaround in the country.

Troy opens the 2017 season with a highly-anticipated matchup at Boise State on Sept. 2 before opening its six-game home slate the following week against Alabama State.
