Cano Tied for Fifth, Troy in 11th Following Day One of Henssler Financial

KENNESAW, Georgia – Troy shot a 3-over 291 in the second round of the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate at the Pinetree Country Club on Monday to move up two spots into 11th place in a field that features 12 teams ranked inside the top 100 nationally. Fátima Fernández Cano sits at 2-under following the opening day and is tied for fifth place.

No. 91 Troy opened the day with a 16-over 304 before bouncing back with the fourth-best score in the second round. Cano shot 4-under with five birdies on her second trip through the course, while Gabi Oubre' carded a 1-under 71 and Becca Horner shaved 10 shots off her opening round score with a 3-over 75.

Cano has six birdies over her opening 36 holes, while Bianca Lohbauer is right behind with five birdies and a 3-over 147 after shooting 2-under in the opening round; Lohbauer is tied for 19th place.

Oubre' checks in tied for 48th, while Lindsey Harrison, who is playing as an individual, is in 76th, Bria Jansen is in 77th place and Horner is tied for 78th place.

The Trojans are within striking distance of a solid finish as they are just eight shots out of fifth place. No. 24 Purdue has a three-shot lead over Memphis, while No. 13 Kent State is six shots back in sixth place.

Troy will play Tuesday's final round with Kennesaw State, Augusta and Eastern Michigan beginning on the ninth hole; the shotgun start begins at 8 a.m. (CT).
