Troy Grabs First Win of the Season Over Bethune-Cookman

JACKSONVILLE, Florida- After a slow start to the season, the Troy women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season defeating Bethune-Cookman 6-1 on a neutral court in Jacksonville, Fla.

Troy (1-6) picked up the lead early as they earned the doubles point after Alicia Rodriguez and Hannah Seizer defeated the Wildcat duo 6-1. On court two, Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky also earned a doubles win as they powered past Bethune-Cookman 6-1 as well.

In singles competition, Seizer got another Troy point on the board with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Mina Matsuba. On court three, Ohta defeated Matea Roki 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8). Also earning a point for the Trojans was Efriliya Herlina as she played a three match set defeating the Wildcat 6-0, 0-6, 1-0 (10-8). Karaky faced Phatsimo Ruele on the fifth court and got the 6-2, 6-0 win.

The Trojans will continue play in Jacksonville, Fla., on Sunday as the face North Florida at 8 a.m.
