Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 14 Auburn

AUBURN, Alabama - Troy (0-6) dropped to No. 14 Auburn 7-0 on the road at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala.
The match started off with a big time doubles win as Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky took down No. 31 Tiger duo Caroline Turner and Georgie Axon 6-1. Hannah Seizer and Alicia Rodriguez took the No. 6 ranked doubles team Alizee Michaud and Taylor Russo down to the wire, but fell to the Tigers 7-5. Auburn took the doubles point after defeating Jiayuan Xue and Efriliya Herlina in a tight 7-5 match.
In singles play, Xue took on Andie Dikosavljevic on court two, and won the first set defeating Dikosavljevic 6-3, but fell in the second and third sets as Auburn earned the point. On court five, Karaky faced No. 112 Roos van der Zwaan. The first set came down to a 7-5 tiebreaker, but fell in favor of the Tigers.
Up next for the Trojans, the team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., where they will play a pair of weekend matches against Bethune-Cookman and North Florida on Feb. 18 and 19. Saturday's match against the Wildcats is set for 11 a.m. CT, and Sunday's match against the Ospreys will be at 8 a.m. CT.
